Iona Sauvignon Blanc A shockingly good marriage between old and new world Sauvignon Blanc. Upfront esotic fruit flavors with porminent flint, chalk and minerals. The entry shows ripe fruit, the finish is dry with great length. Serve this Sauvignon Blanc with fresh fish, sushi, shell fish, oysters, asparagus, artichokes, salads, Chinese and Indian foods with ginger and spices work perfectly! Iona Chardonnay We harvested our first Chardonnay grapes on the 7thof March 2006 at a very low 2/ton/ha. The fruit was in excellent condition with a very good analysis resulting in 13.5% alcohol, 1,8gm/l of residual sugar and7gm/l of acid. The oak regime largely determines the style of wine and we believe oak should be used sparingly. only 250 cases have been released. John Platter 4 stars Iona Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon Lovely voluptuousness, truffles, licorice and red berries from the Merlot, held in check by the firm, spicy tannins of the Cabernet Sauvignon and a moderae 13% Alcohol. Classically understated! John Platter 3.5 stars
Iona Shiraz Incredibly fresh and pure white pepper and savory notes, complimented the berry and fruit aromas. Has immense poise and presence in the mouth, but never overwheling. Serve with Carpaccio, meats and pastas. John Platter 3.5 stars
Iona Nobel Late Harvest Sauterne The nose shows apricot, honey and almonds and on entry the palate is rich and sweet and the wine appears to almost evaporate on your tongue as the wonderful natural acidity balances the sweetness with a dry and long finish. Only 50% of the wine was matured in new French barriques so as to retain the freshness, minerality and delicate fruit found in our Sauvignon Blanc.
